Roasted Chickpeas (also known as Leblebi and Garbanzo Beans) are roasted with traditional techniques in Turkey (not fried) which makes it a great, tasty and healthy snacking alternative.
Roasted Chickpeas are very common and popular in Turkey and the Middle East; and was introduced to the world market by the Turks. Chickpeas used for Leblebi are selected for shape, size, color and harvesting time. Generally, large seeded (8-9 mm) kabuli chickpeas are preferred.
We offer various types of Roasted Chickpeas as customs cleared in Rotterdam and New Jersey and/or export to the whole world directly from our head office in Turkey.
Turkish Roasted Chickpeas (also known as Leblebi) are produced using traditional techniques, unlike standard oven roasted chickpeas.
These roasted chickpeas have a harder texture and contain no added oil. The processing stages for leblebi include cleaning and grading, soaking, tempering (preheating and resting), boiling, resting, roasting, and dehulling. By the end of the production process, the chickpeas swell, soften, and after roasting, become crisp.
